need some advice we bought a sow who was meant to be in pig, unfortunately no piglets. i noticed i was in her pen the other day and she was mounting other pigs i took this as sign of her being in heat,i took note of date and have her her three week cycle worked out as the 11th of august, so gonna be watching her from next weekend, was wondering does any one have a pedigree saddleback boar we could bring her to(south ulster ,north connaught) or how is the the sucess with a i, whats recomended anyone please thanks.

From my limited experience I think that sows are only really fertile for something like 24 hours during the couple of weeks that they are on heat so a short holiday with an experienced boar would be more reliable than AI .
There is apparently quick a knack to performing AI --- it is not just a case of putting the tube up there , so to speak . It has to at a particular angle .
Others on this forum should be able to offer better advice than I can . Good Luck !
