This has to be the worst year,i have ever had for rearing birds.
the lad next door brought me two dozen Dorking eggs, nineteen hatched i have one left.I bought ten Plymouth Rocks all ten hatched no problems rearing them eight cocks two hens.a mate gave me six Speckled Sussex eggs five cocks one hen.Hatched eight out of twelve Guinea Fowl i have three left no idea what they are yet.
The most annoying thing though  is losing a third of my broilers, most have grown normally but the others have been very slow to grow i think i must of got a bad batch.
is it just me or has anybody else had similar experiences.

Not good is it Phil. Their must be a reason for all these cockerel's. Haven't a clue why this is. Bref has the same problem.  Good luck mate.

I stand at 41 males : 31 females and 11 as yet undetermined.  I also lost a few chicks to crows and a couple weak ones and sold a bunch of day-olds so maybe they were the 'missing' girls Laughing

If I understand you right, Phil, you did not only have tons of males but also had trouble with rearing the birds? What happened?
