Does any of you know where I may get a nucleus coloney in the south east? I will take a swarm if there is one about.

Have you tried http://www.irishbeekeeping.ie/html/affassoc.html
Looks like there are clubs in Wexford, New Ross and Waterford, plus links to suppliers.
I got my bees by putting an add in the 'wanted' section.
Best of luck. _________________ Relocation to the sticks.

Thanks for the link. I may well have to leave it another year now as planning problems have put my beeking plans back. What hives do you have?. I have Longstroths. As most beekeepers around seem to use Nationals I would have to modify the brood chamber to recieve the nuk. A swarm will be much easier of course. Thanks again. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

I have Nationals, the smallest hive ... and even they are very heavy when full of honey and brood, so I'm glad I didn't go for anything bigger.
I know others with Commercials and Modified Dadants. _________________ Relocation to the sticks.

The reason I got Longstroths was to cater for the Italian hybreds of the UK which are a bigger Bee all together. I notice that the Irish Bees are blacks. Well the ones around here are. The native blacks in the UK have all but disappeared and their were attemps to re introduce them from Tasmania. Are your Bees black?
