Good morning,
MeliMelo has definitely done a great job with the bees ...
we have 4 super alltogether from the one hive
... our bee tutor/master told us he's never had it ... and the rest of the beekeeper's association member struggle to gather up 3 supers from 7 hives ...
We've extracted 2 supers (smallest half of the full harvest) on friday, and got a surprising 47 x 1lb jars from that ... of runny lovely yummy honey ...
the rest will be extracted today ... I'm hoping to reach the hundred pots.
So if some of you wants to buy/barter honey, now is your chance to put your name forward.
I don't know how many will go this way, so it might be limited numbers as the boss has other plans for it too.
Camile

Nice one guys . It has been not a good year for bees weather wise so great stuff . I am trying to order some nukes for next year. There are very few honey bees around these parts so a swarm is not likely. I must seek out the local bee keepers group and see whats what. A bloke at the local market sells his honey for 7 euro which is a bit pricey me thinks. In the UK I would sell it for a quid a jar. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

Wasps can be a real problem this time of the year. I would close the entrance to only let one bee at a time to enter, and half fill wine bottles with water and a teaspoon full of jam over and down inside the kneck and place them all around your hive. You may catch just a few bees but not many. Good luck. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

I'd love to buy some Camile!
Where abouts are you again? I know it's near Galway somewhere but forget where.
Would barter for some cockerels but I guess you need those like a hole in the head

Hi Chook,
No problem at all to have some ... but a barter with roosters won't be an option though ... because each jars of honey is coming with a rooster allready.
but a barter with hens would be considerred indeed.

I went down to the organic market near here at the weekend and bought a jar of honey - 6 euro.
In Lidl here, a jar is 2.19 euro.
I love to buy organic, but nearly a 300% difference in price?!!
