Hi everyone,
We live near Dunmore in County Galway.
We have lived here for just over 3 years, originating from Yorkshire, UK.
We bought an old scary house with a few acres. We have spent lots of time doing the house up but we are now working on the land and the fencing.
We have some rescue animals but now we are just rescuing battery hens.
We have just homed all our first rescues and are looking forward to our next batch.
If anyone wants to put their name and details down for some of the next batch, please let us know.
They are for free range homes only.
Our website is www.fizzywitch.com
There will be a dedicated section on the website, on hen rescue and welfare within the next few weeks
Diane

Hi and welcome Fizzywitch. We kept ex bat hens in the UK. It was great to see the birds find their feet. I could not locate any ex bat birds around here and so have just installed a doz point of lay commercial`s. These birds will have a free range life which is fare better than that of the thousands of birds we left in the sheds. Cant buy them all me thinks. Good luck. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

Yep, at least saving some is better than saving none.
That is why we put the 'starfish story' on our website
And, the ex-batteries are so tame and amusing! lol _________________ Rescuing Battery hens and re-homing them to good free range homes. Check out our website |

Hi Fizzywitch. Enjoyed reading your website and your blog. You've obviously achieved a lot in a short time.
Originally from a housing estate in Wakefield myself, so the transition to the open spaces of Ireland has been just as dramatic - and enjoyable - for me.
Hope to be set up for chickens by next spring so may head your way for some rescue birds. |

That's great Graney, just send me an email through the website when you are ready for chickens and I am sure we will either have some or be in the process of rescuing some. _________________ Rescuing Battery hens and re-homing them to good free range homes. Check out our website |

Hi Fizzywitch,
Just FYI, I hear that the poultry farm in Dunmore is going Organic.
Also, the outlaws are from Dunmore and the word is that quite a few farmers in the locale are going Organic, whether for their own comsumption or for commercial reasons I cannot say.
Good to have you onboard! _________________ www.killerflies.com

Would that be the one in Glenamaddy?
If so, They also say they are free range and on their vans it says organic. I have been to their farm and I would love to see where they let the chucks outside, unless they take them for a walk down the lane each morning!!!
They are all in big sheds! _________________ Rescuing Battery hens and re-homing them to good free range homes. Check out our website |
