Good morning,
I had a "bad" experience yesterday with the billy goat .. whether actually, just over a year old (born on 06/02/06).
He lost the very tip of one horn a while back (2/3 months ago) .. and didn't bleed much at all .. we just noticed the tip missing in the evening ..
I have been told this is normal, it's like "babies teeth" ..
Yesterday, came back from work .. and the tip of the 2nd horn was bended .. so I told him -> go play with Nanny to get it off .. went back 1 hour later, the tip was gone .. and he was "covered" in blood ...
He didn't bleed THAT much .. but one a white goat .. you notice it ...
Is there anything I can do or is it really normal ?
Thanks,
Camile

Can't help I am afraid , Camile , but one of the ways the locals tell the mountain ( horned ) sheep apart is that the wethers tend to have forshortened tips to their horns . It looks as if the last 2 - 3 " have kind of crumbled away over time -- no blood or apparent distress but I was warned that they can sometimes break off quite easily . This is apparently nothing to worry about , just don't drag them around ! . Could it be similar to that , I wonder ?
