I have very little experience of bitches ( well , I have come across a few but I am talking about female dogs here ) . I understand that they "spot" a little blood when in season . My own male doggie goes normally nuts a few days before his girlfriend gets into that condition but a recent visitor was showing those symptoms without Nemo getting particularly excited .
Would a neutered female still go thru the cycle without producing whatever it is that drives the male crazy ?
If not , should the "spotting" be of concern to the owner ? ( She was apparently abandoned on the bog and only recently rescued by my mate so we have no prior experience ) . She seems otherwise healthy and happy in herself .

A number of reasons could cause this spotting. Not just the normal cycle of events. Perhaps a visit to the vets just to be on the safe side. I have had a few neutered bitches and never noticed any spotting.
