Anybody know how to scare or cull crows.
I planted a lot of spuds this year and the crows went along the drills picking out the seed potatoes with devastating results. They knew exaclty where the spupds were and didn't have to dig about for them.
So, next year is going to be different. Scarecrows? Whistling tape? Shotgun? Catapult? Tethered leopard?
All ideas welcome

| We had the same problem. We used a few steel rods scattered around the field and tied some fish gut between each pair of rods. Then we hung some old CD's from the fish gut. The CD's catch the light and help to keep them out of the field. Also if you know anyone who could shoot a crow or two and hang them up in the field this can also help, but they are not that easy to shoot. |

We've used the CD trick against deer and so far it seems to have worked.
Mind you, it's a bit like the hoary old joke about the man who claims he's developed anti-elephant dust cos he sprinkles it around and has never seen an elephant.
We can't really be certain the CDs are working. Mind you, I noticed one of them was a Barry Manilow album ... now that scares most humans away, so why not deer |

We would shoot one or two crows and hang them up with string on woodern polls around the area we wished to protect. It worked every time. Better to shoot one or two than the whole lot me thinks. Good luck.
