Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some comfrey to plant around and was wondering if any of you had roots to spare or would help me try and find a spot where it grows... where are you likely to find it ?
Thanks in advance
Mel

I have a comfrey plant growing in the front garden. If someone else comes back with advice on how to dig part of it up and send it to you I can do that. _________________ http://livingthesimplelifeiwant.blogspot.com |

Hi there. Comfrey should be in full leaf at the moment so it is time to cut the foliage back to about 6 inches off the ground and the leaves left to soak in water to make liquid manure feed. When you have done this, using a spade, cut straight down through the plant, section off about a third and dig it up. There should be lots of root sections. Separate them and put them into moist compost and that's it.
I have 6 large plants that give me all the liquid manure I need for a year. It is both a foliage and a soil feed.
I am in South Sligo if I can help you out.

Hi Mel,
I have loads of plants. If you ever come down to North Clare I'd be happy to dig you up some. We are near Kilfenora.

Big rooted plants like comfrey can be sent through the post successfully. Cut a section of root with a few buds trim off much of the foliage if necessary. Wrap in lots of damp news paper and put it all into a sealed poly bag. Once boxed and wrapped it can be posted. I had some horseradish sent me this way from the UK with no problems. _________________ Leave not a trace. |
