Hi all i,m looking for any info on badgers, our daughter came across one caught in a snair when walking home from school, i cut the snair popped him in a bag and brought him home thinking all the way back how i was to remove the snair from around his neck without been savage(this beast was not in the best of moods after all he must hane been in the snair at least 12 hours) it just so happened i had some heavy duty horse tranquilizer at hand ,so wife holding the end of the wire snair i atempted to administer 4ml in his mouth , not a easy task well he soon fell into a deep sleep and i removed the wire no harm to his neck at all . 4 days later he woke , drank some milk and started eating well so this is where we are at the moment . i asked our vet to give him a test for t.b , she refused, i don,t intend to let him go untill i,m sure of no t.b as we also keep cows. HELP!

You have probably broke several laws although it was for the right reason,
i have seen young cubs reared to be reasonably tame,i don't know so much about half grown or young adults that have been used to life in the wild.
I don't think i would fancy eating one,but why not a barbecue,
or you could try this
Chilli Badger
1 pound of badger meat, minced
1 large onion, chopped
1 clove of garlic, crushed
1 green pepper,chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon cumin
2 teaspoons chilli powder
1 tin puree tomatoes
1 tin kidney beans
Method :
1. Brown the meat in a little oil
2. Add onion, peppers, garlic, cumin, oregano and chilli powder
3. Let the ingredients cook until the onions and peppers become clear
4. Add the tomatoes
5. After the mixture has simmered for 25 minutes, add the beans, simmer for a further 30 minutes, or until the mixture reaches the desired consistency
6. Serve with rice |

I have been reading a book on Home Smoking and Curing by Keith Erlandson. (Our first Pigs are off to the butchers on Tuesday) In it he mentions smoked Badger Hams in a Stockholm game market.
Think I will carry on taking photos of them.
